DEL MAR FAIR HOMEBREW CONTEST

 

The biggest homebrew competition in San Diego County.

On Sunday June 23, homebrewers flock to the Del Mar Fair for the annual homebrew competition.

NEWSBRIEFS:

 

On Sunday June 23 at the Del Mar Fair, the Society of Barley Engineers

walked away with 17 ribbons (best showing ever)! The Fair was held outside

on the lawn and we were there unofficially sampling and evaluating homebrew

in the background. Congratulations to all - pictures will be available at

the meeting.

1st place - German Lignt Lager (Dortmunder) by Andy Gamelin

(this on tied for best of show but lost the ti-breaker vote)

1st place - Spice Mead (vanilla/nutmeg) by Andy Gamelin

1st place - Fruit Mead (blackberry) by Eric Hitzelberger

1st place - German Wheat beer (Hefeweizen) by Andy Gamelin

2nd place - Traditional Mead (light peach) by Steve Dimmer

2nd place - Stout (oatmeal stout) by Andy Gamelin

2nd place - Belgian & French Ale (Abbey Dubbel) by Eric Hitzelberger

3rd place - Traditional Mead (sparkling) by Andy Gamelin

3rd place - Belgian Lambic (Cherry) by Eric Hitzelberger

3rd place - Smoked beer (smoked honey ale) by Andy Gamelin

4th place - Fruit Mead (mixed berry) by Jack Ridley

4th place - German Dark Lager (Shwarzbier) by Steve Dimmer

4th place - English Bitter (Pale Ale) by Andy Gamelin

4th place - German Light Lager (Bohemian) by Steve Dimmer

5th place - Vienna/Oktoberfest (Vienna) by Steve Dimmer
